The U.S. Embassy in Rabat is seeking a Electrical Engineer

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 48 hours/week (Monday to Saturday)
SALARY:*Not-Ordinarily Resident: $61,759 p.a. (Starting Salary based on 40 hours)
(Position Grade: FP-04 following confirmation by Washington)
*Ordinarily Resident: Gross Salary 377,626 DH p.a. (Starting Salary
based on 40 hours including allowances, competitive bonus and benefits
package. U.S. Mission will withhold from your gross salary employee's
portion of the CNSS and CIMR contributions, health/life/disability
insurance contributions as well as all tax obligations as imposed by the US
and/or host country governments)
(Position Grade: FSN-11)
LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT: THIS IS A LIMITED APPOINTMENT NOT TO EXCEED TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE OF HIRE.
NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.
The U.S. Embassy in Rabat is seeking an individual for the Electrical Engineer position to work for the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The Electrical Engineer will inspect construction; review plans; recommend approval of shop drawings and submittals; maintain a daily log of construction activities; develop change orders including preparing cost estimates; and other construction engineering duties related to the construction of the New Embassy Compound (NEC) in Morocco. The Electrical Engineer shall be capable of working independently and shall provide professional engineering services.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution is required.
Experience: From seven to nine years of experience in the field of electrical engineering, preferably related to building construction and renovations is required. Two years experience with U.S. codes and criteria is required.
Language:Level 3 (good working knowledge) in English. Level 4 (fluency) in French and Arabic is required.
Knowledge:
Must have knowledge in design and construction practices with U.S. electrical codes and
specifications, thorough professional knowledge in electrical design calculations and criteria,
preparation of engineering drawings and specification.
Skills and Abilities:
MS Office package user for word processing and analysis is required.
Ability to use engineering management software, and maintain daily construction
inspection logs is required.
Ability to create electrical engineering cost estimates, review electrical construction
drawings for code compliance and provide briefings to the OBO Project Director on
electrical issues is required.
Ability to use AutoCAD to review drawings is required.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When equally qualified, US Citizen EFMs and US Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs
Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
Current Ordinarily Resident employees must serve in the same position for a period of 52 weeks before being eligible to apply for advertised positions.
